Afterschool Program (CASA)

The CASA Program is available to Ruby Drive students in TK through sixth grade. It is designed to keep children safe in the after school hours and provide them academic enrichment, homework support, and tutoring, as well as a range of recreational opportunities. CASA is in session Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:15 until 6:00 PM and early release every Wednesday 1:15 - 6:00 PM. CASA is held on school minimum days starting at 12:45 until 6:00 PM. Please note, if the grade level you are requesting is full, you have the option to add your child to our interest list.

Community based partners such as Bright Artist, Big Brother Big Sister, STEM and GOALS contribute to this program to provide a wide array of activities for the students. Bright Artist teaches drawing so that students have the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills. Big Brother Big Sister creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships and team building activities. STEM teaches critical thinking and innovation that allows students to develop mental habits that will help them succeed in any field. GOALS provide a unique experience for CASA students to enter the world of sports. Weekly meetings, followed by a weekly field trip to a sport's venue. Additional trips support the hockey part of the program that provides equipment and instruction as teams are formed and compete school to school.

The goal of the CASA Program is to provide an academy of services that offer expanded learning opportunities for children and decrease risk factors that may lead to school failure. The four major areas are:

  1. Provide enriched and intensive academic and technology usage activities;
  2. Provide enrichment and self-esteem building activities for students;
  3. Provide nutrition and health education leading to improved attendance and student behavior;
  4. Provide opportunities for parents of participating students to take part in literacy, parenting, and academic activities.
