District Dress Code
EC 35183 - Students shall wear appropriate clothing, footwear, and accessories and shall groom themselves for school in a manner which supports standards of safety, does not offend common standards of decency, does not reflect negatively on, or detract from, any phase of the educational program, and does not indicate a relationship to unauthorized student groups. School dress codes do allow for the outdoor use of sun-protective clothing (hats, etc.). These guidelines apply during the school day and at school-sponsored activities conducted on or off campus outside the official school day. Principals will publish specific statements and guidelines developed by their staffs, students, and community. The Education Code authorizes school districts to adopt a dress code policy that would require pupils to wear a schoolwide uniform.
